Parents, when was the last time you have that in-depth conversation with your children? Or when was the last time you had the longest conversation with them? This is one of the problems that is happening among parents and their children. Honestly, I myself couldn’t remember the last time I had a meaningful and “real” conversation with my little one either. I admit it is not easy. Other parents around me often said the same thing too. It’s not like we don’t want to have such conversations, but we just didn’t know where to begin.
Especially for working parents, we often have limited time to spend with our children. Working parents have to wake up early and only reach home later that evening. The only time that we usually have is during the early morning when we are sending them to school or childcare centre, and midnight before everyone goes off to sleep.
If you are one of the parents who often prepare milk for your children, this is it! You can start to have in-depth interaction with your little one while giving them milk as breakfast or before they go off to bed. During this moment, instead of simply asking about their studies and the obvious daily activities, try to focus the conversation about their feelings and emotions. Start it off by asking the question, listen attentively to their answer, respond and reflect back to what they are saying so they know you understand.

Heart to heart: “What is your favourite thing about me?”
Have a seat with your child while he finishes off his milk. Ask him a few questions, such as “What is your favourite thing about me?”, “When was the last time you cry and why?”, and many more. Make sure the conversation geared towards your relationship with each other. This way you get to know your children better. At the same time, drinking milk everyday could boost their health development.
It is advisable for every child (and even you!) to take two glasses/packs of 200ml milk per day at any time of the day. One drink in the morning can boost your energy while one glass of milk before going to bed improves the quality of your sleep. Drinking milk provides the children with extra calcium needed to build strong and healthy bones. At the same time, it nurtures the children’s love for their parents.
