My children love to play games! Well, I bet it can be one of the most common hobbies we can find in the children these days.
I am not THAT super cool mum, but I do allow my kids to have fun with things that they like.
And like many parents, sometimes I have found myself quickly running out of new ideas on how I can keep them entertained, especially now that we spend most of our time at home.
Thanks to social media and the technology these days, I want to share with fellow mummies out there on how you can become a super cool mum that knows what is up on the trend and latest online games. Check out the list below!
Fun and Trending Online Games
1) Among Us
Mummy, are you the IMPOSTOR? Because you are kinda suspicious.
Be prepared to be accused of being the impostor by your kids – thanks to this game. Not to mention, there are a lot of funny pictures (Memes) relating to this game that you may have seen when you are scrolling through your social media.
This game is called Among Us and it is incredibly popular among teenagers and small children age 9 years old and above. It is also famous among working adults too!
It is a simple game that was created by an indie developer, Innersloth. Among Us can be played online with other people from around the world or with your own private group of friends and family.
The style, animation and the cute 2D characters which represent little astronauts in the various colour of spacesuits will attract your child.
This game requires teamwork to identify the killer (impostor) before the game ends or else, the killer might wipe out everyone instantly. You need to work together as a team, to find who within the team of players can and cannot be trusted.
One thing to look forward to is that this game will bring the heat between you and your children, but, in a good way.
Among Us can help to improve the reasoning and social skills in your children, especially during this pandemic where children might be trapped at home and in need of social interaction.
2) Minecraft
Do your kids love Lego? Similar to Lego, Minecraft is the next level of building blocks, online!
Minecraft, one of the best-selling, independently produced and released video games, entices children as they create innovative block structures where it can help in fostering creativity, geometry, and some parts of geology. It is based on 3D animation game style with vibrant colours.
Minecraft is an open-world game where you can wander around and explore new things to get more creative ideas. This game allows you and your kids to collaborate and build mind-blowing architectures together (or on your own). MinecraftEdu, an academic association which includes educators and programmers even recommended this game to educators because it is “easily adaptable to the curriculum” with “sandbox play that allows for any types of learning.”

3) Roblox
Roblox has been a massive success even though it is an odd-looking game. Kids all around the world love this game because of the non-limited customisations of their avatar.
Roblox is an online game developer system, where “amateur” game developers produce the majority of the content.
By only using simple software, these game makers can develop and publish games for the community.
There are a variety of open worlds inside this game for you and your kids to choose from, those which are adventurous in their own style! These games can be played on your mobile phones, PCs and tablets.
Competitive games such as Prison Break, Shark Attack or Work In A Pizza Place on Roblox provides a fun way to encounter adult-like scenarios.
Roblox also generates a system where vulgar words are blocked completely inside the chatrooms, so it is suitable for the kids.
One major advantage of playing this game is its potential to teach children the basic skills in coding, game design, and entrepreneurial skills – all of which can be applied to real life.

4) Animal Crossing
When it comes to fun, most often than not, parents and children have their own interpretation of ‘fun’. However, if there is one game that is equally enjoyable for parents and children, it is Animal Crossing!
With the cute animation and gameplay, I can promise that you too, might get hooked and probably could not get your hands off of it.
I would advise you to buy one for you and one for your child, so you both can have your turns to play together!
So, what is so fun about this Animal Crossing that makes you go craze for it? It was developed for Nintendo by Katsuya Eguchi, a video game series where players get to control their own avatar while living in a village populated by talking animals.
In the early year of 2020, Nintendo had debuted Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Nintendo Switch, which immediately rose to fame and became the ‘hero’ where it saved people from dying of boredom due to being at home during this pandemic.
Moreover, in Animal Crossing, you and your kids can customise your very own tropical island and decorate houses. The best part is that you can also visit each other’s island and interact with each other!
Good news for parents who are concerned about whether Animal Crossing is SAFE for the kids, the answer is YES!

Now, this is one of the ways that you can have fun with your kids. However, make sure that you set a duration on how long they can play these games or spend their time on gadgets.
